So far this series is nothing special for me. And there are many things that i hoped they could have done better on. Well I have now seen the third episode, so read the rest to see whether or not I think it got any better.
So as always, plot summary first. So A lot of people was brutally murdered and their bodies are placed in a shed in the last episode. Now Maria is being notified that her mom and many others have died. she didn’t cry and didn’t even seem surprised in any way. She looks more like she doesn’t care.
The servants realized that the radio is down, so they won’t be able to contact anyone outside of the island. Which also means the killer is still on the island. Then a series of investigation started, and there seems to be enough reasons to suspect the servants. Then Battler over heard a conversation between the servants about Beatrice. They all agree that Beatrice exists, and she sometimes go to them in the form of a golden butterfly. But Battler thinks its a bunch of crap (which is reasonable). Then some stuff happened and after a while, two more people were found dead.
This is a very interesting episode. i will start by talking about what I like about it. First will be how this episode made the entire story feels more mysterious and much less cliche than it original seemed. Also, now that the murdering has begun, I find it much more entertaining to watch since it gives me more to think about while watching. Instead of listening to a bunch of irrelevant nonsense and annoying sounds made by a certain characters. In this episode, Battler finally has a role. It is the first time he gets to actually do and say something useful. And finally, how they killed off the bitchiest and most suspicious woman was nice. Although it should be obvious that she is not the murderer (since the most suspicious one is never the culprit in these mysteries stories), it still provides an interesting change. Since now the bitchiest woman is dead, who is going to cause conflict now? Ok so that’s pretty much it for what I like. Now lets talk about what I didn’t like. The biggest problem I had with this one is how Battler and the others don’t seem to be sad at all after losing their parents and other relatives. Battler did not cry, did not get traumatized, he didn’t even seem depressed. His face expression is pretty much the same as usual, and he even broke out in laughter in one part. And almost the same could be said about the blonde chick. I have never been in a situation like theirs, so I wouldn’t know exactly how I would react. But I am pretty sure I won’t be as relaxed as they are. The other thing I don’t really like is how they still don’t have on screen murders. I don’t know about you, but i think they should put some in. But that’s just my personal preference.
Overall, interesting. It’s the best episode out of the 3 so far for me. Got better, but still not quite where i expected it to be.
Episode Rating: 7/10
